Vegetarian

These days being a vegetarian need not be a boring affair. There are many vegetarian restaurants around town. It can be a costly meal but can also remain a humble one. The food at smaller vegetarian restaurants are more authentic and healthier vs the bigger posh ones. They have less of the pseudo meat in their menu. And many of these smaller ones have turned organic too with no MSG added. So go for it.

Vegetarian non-vegetarian meals

The title sounds confusing, doesn't it.

In year 2000 during my maiden trip to Nepal I was having dinner at a rooftop restaurant at the Thamel area, just a few shops away from KGH. As in all eateries in Kathmandu, one will have to wait a fair bit before the first dish sits on your table. When the soup arrived I was slurping on it and at the same time telling my mate how good it was. When I was almost half way thru the soup, I suddenly realised that I had so much to chew on a bowl of vegetarian soup. I spat out something and immediately got the waiter's attention. We checked with him if the soup is vegetarian soup. "Yes, Maam, it's vegetarian". Then I asked him what is this piece of chicken doing in my vegetarian soup. He left us very quickly and returned just as quickly announcing that the cook have made a mistake. "Today's soup is chicken soup, Maam".

On 8 December 2007 I ordered some take-away vegetarian momos in India. I was going to the airport at 5.30pm for my homeward bound flight. After checking in and going through immigration we settled down for some finger food. Wow! the momos tasted fantastic. First piece went in, followed by the second piece. No, I should not have so much to chew on. Yes, you have guessed it right. The delicious momos were chicken momos. ): See the grin hehehe

And of course I was third time lucky. This time was at MPH Cafe at 1 Utama. I ordered an Egg Mayo sandwich. Maybe I have some great affinity with chicken. It turned out to be Chicken Mayo sandwich but this time I discovered it with the second bite (the first bite was only the side of the bread without any fillings).

So far I have had 3 vegetarian non-vegetarian meals. I must admit it did not taste offensive. On the contrary it tasted pretty ......goooood. So much for being a vegetarian

If Music Be The Food Of Love, Play On

Many eat to live while some live to eat. I have a regular lunch partner and I vouch anyone who lunches with her will enjoy the outing as she truly enjoys the food albeit it vegetarian or non-vegetarian. I also have friends who put up with vegetarian food each time they lunch or dine with me and it sometimes takes the joy out of it when you know they are just accommodating my eating habits. And just as they accommodate my eating habits, I too have to accommodate with their pretenses.

I should be able to put something up by early 2008. I will need to do a little running around of snapping some pictures either of the restaurant or the food proper and of course hopefully be able to get some referrals from friends as well.

Food For Thought

This is the beginning of a series of "Where To Eat" within the Klang Valley. It will be categorised under Vegetarian and Non-vegetarian. Anyone who knows of some fantastic places to gorge, please drop me a line. It need not be restricted to Klang Valley. It can be from anywhere in Malaysia or other parts of the world.

See you there!!
